Proxmark5: The Next Generation RFID Research Platform

The RFID Research Group, the team behind the Proxmark3 RDV4, has unveiled the Proxmark5, billed as a professional RFID research platform built for researchers. It is designed to be open source, wireless, modular, extended range and UHF ready, making it the most capable Proxmark to date.

The Proxmark5 keeps backward compatibility with Proxmark3 RDV4 firmware while adding significant new hardware. Highlights include an antenna LED system that shows whether you are working with LF or HF at a glance, before running a single command, and dedicated hardware for advanced cryptographic research on contact based cards, SIM cards and secure access modules.

The campaign has been a major success, raising over 1,000,000 USD from more than 3,000 backers, with the Super Early Bird tier selling out in under four minutes. You can read the full specification and back the project on Indiegogo.
